Owning and managing a credit card is a really serious responsibility. I have always tried to be really good about paying off my balance in full every month to avoid accruing debt that I will not be able to handle. Having watched many family and friends fall victim to damaging interest rates, I have seen how quickly credit card debt can spiral out of control. I was talking to a friend the other day who has been really struggling to get out from under her credit card debt, and the only thing she seemed to be able to express was sheer hopelessness.
